About Pastor Duke
Pastor Duke is from Mansfield Ohio. He came to Christ at age 18 out of the drug culture. He soon felt a call to ministry and attended Baptist Bible College in Springfield Missouri. In 1978 he and his wife JoEllen moved to New York at age 24 and planted Temple Baptist Church in Halfmoon NY (near Albany). Temple is now called The Church at Newtown Road, where he continues to serve as Pastor Emeritus. Seven baby churches have been planted in the Capital Region through Newtown Church. The Hergatts have three adult children and eight grand children. Duke is an avid gardener, homesteader, and bee keeper. He is an Adirondack 46er. He has travelled around the country preaching as a conference speaker since 2010.
